Hata Shrine Plants Rice

The rice planting is a new event in Hata Shrine.
In traditonal work cloths children were planting seedling in an old procedure, by hand that even farmers do not take today.


Sweet Hill Amba

People in Kesennuma clebrate their sweet hill Amba on May 5. She is 239 meters (784 feet) high standing behind the port.
Her name writes "tame the wave" in Japanese and she is to pray for safe sailing.


Bridge and Swans

Last winter was a hard one for swans in the Ohkawa river. People stopped feeding because of "bird flu".
There had lived no swans in this river untill an old man set decoys twenty years ago.

A Thousand Drums

The feature of Kesennuma Port Festival every summer. The clip shows the oldest number "Tohri Bayashi" or March of Shinto Ark.
Men and women of all ages play drums so grandiosely as to move our soul.


Ohkawa in Late Autumn

Clips filmed in the first days the editor was back to the town. The bridge and the poplar trees is his most favorite scenery.
Because of a new bridge construction, the trees were cut down soon after filming.
